Where the gynecologist is also the domain registrar

I heard this story 2006, some people were laughing that in one African country, the guy who operates the ccTLD is also the gynecologist. It sounded funny given that the two areas of expertise are not related.

The funniest part in the story was the one where the doctor was online with someone complaining that they could not access their services and the telephone rings and it is a woman in labor; so who should get the doctor's attention?

The giving birth part may have been manufactured by the story tellers but this is not a myth. It happens in Africa!

In Namibia, the dot Na domain is administered by a company owned by two medical doctors. One of them specializes in reproductive health and also oversees the operations of the registry.

The dot Na is one of the domains in Africa struggling to involve all stakeholders in the management. Some Internet Service Providers claim they have no say in the operations at the registry.

Africa's domain management is still evolving and it has proved that technology is for everybody including farmers.
