AccessKenya signs agreement with Nakumatt
31 Oct, 2008
AccessKenya has entered into a partnership with supermarket chain Nakumatt to promote and sell Access@Home, the Internet service provider's residential broadband product.
"There is no better partner than Nakumatt, given their reach into the population," said Jonathan Somen, AccessKenya managing director. "The agreement gives our new product the seal of approval of Kenya's largest retailer. "
"This product is complementary to our lifestyle range of products, an area of key focus for Nakumatt," added Nakumatt IT director Sailesh Savani.
The partnership allows customers to pay 6,000 Kenyan shilling per month for Access@Home service, with no charges for the equipment. The offer is available at Nakumatt's 14 branches in Nairobi and Mombasa.
Access@Home is currently utilizing new WiMax technology to provide home users with more reliable service. The company has put up 35 base stations around Nairobi and Mombasa.
The move by AccessKenya follows Wananchi's launch of an aggressive marketing campaign for its residential broadband service.
