The Nigerian government yesterday donated a multipurpose skills training center to the Waterloo area of Freetown, Sierra Leone, with one of three blocks earmarked for ICT training.
Named after the president of Nigeria, the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Skills Acquisition Centre will provide training in tailoring, food processing, carpentry, plumbing, welding, electrical technology and ICT, among other skills.
The block earmarked as the ICT center contains 100 multimedia Internet-ready computers, four 21-inch color televisions, two Y46C 3A speakers, a TV desktop stand, two wall mounting brackets, four DVD combo DTA 2198, desks and split air conditioners.
The skills center was constructed and equipped by the Nigerian government as a result of the NILISA Initiative, a tripartite agreement between Nigeria, Libya and South Africa made in 2001, said Chief Godson Echegile, Nigeria's high commissioner.
Receiving the center on behalf of Sierra Leone's foreign affairs minister, Hajia Wurie called the center yet another manifestation of Nigeria’s effort to contribute to peace in Sierra Leone.
