Heading the ICT infrastracture way..

Why Merali beats us all…..
Businessman Naushad Merali is well known in Kenya’s business circles. He is famous for upstaging MTN in the sale of Vivendi shares in Kencell, he exercised his right to buy off the stake, and within two hours he sold off to Celtel, making about 2 billion shillings (US$ 30 million).
He has also heavily invested in the ICT industry through Sameer ICT with companies such as Kenya Data Networks leading in making big monies.
But when it was announced that the Sameer group was not doing well financially, some may have thought that it is the end for Merali.
Just when we were wondering what would be the next move, he unveiled the business park, expected to be complete in 18 months.
It was like he knew the government plans, because in the 2008/2009 budget, finance minister Amos Kimunya announced plans to invest in a business park.
So, Merali was a step ahead, and if the government offers any incentives or tax rebates for those investing in the infrastructure, he will benefit. Better still, all of us interested in hiring such infrastructure, we will go to his outfits.
Merali beats us all because he recognized that ICT infrastructure is the next big investment in Kenya.
