Celtel launches 'own a business' promotion

Celtel is providing an opportunity for Sierra Leoneans to start up a business without seeking loans, according to industry trade Minister Alimamy Koroma.

He was the special guest at the recent launch of Celtel's "own a business" promotion, which will allow four subscribers in different districts of the country to win a shop stocked with goods worth 20 million leones (US$7,000) each. A year's rent would be paid for the shop and the winners will be given 5 million leones as working capital, in any type of shop they choose to open.

"This is indeed going to transform the lives of people," Koroma said.""This is a step in the right direction as it is going to help members of the business community and every Sierra Leonean to have something to start an enterprise."

Celtel Managing Director Ted Sauti-Phiri said the company came up with the promotion in tandem with its theme of making life better.

The promotion will last for three months.

Celtel has the widest network coverage of all the four GSM operators in the country.
