Rockstar declines comment on PC Grand Theft Auto IV
2 May, 2008
On Wednesday, Rockstar greeted inquiries about a PC version of the insanely popular console title Grand Theft Auto IV with an industry standard -- and no doubt disheartening -- "no comment."
The no comment arrived after CVG pumped the developer for more information on a January report from French retailers. Originally, that report speculated that GTA IV would launch for the PC in October. On Wednesday, German retailer City Disc posted a November 2008 release date, prompting the follow up from CVG.
City Disc has since amended its listing to October 30, 2008, with the following translated copy: "The release date for GTA 4 for PC has not yet been confirmed by the Publisher, Take 2. The release date is not guaranteed and is open to change."
It's a very GameStop way of doing things, and should be considered a placeholder until confirmation from Rockstar or publisher Take Two.
PC gamers should take solace in the fact that it took GTA III about six to eight months to come to the PC.
